Photo Friday – Hike to Aguas Calientes

Hiking, Inca Jungle Trek, Peru, Aguas CalientesThe hike along the railway tracks from the Hydro Electrico to Aguas Calientes is an iconic part of the journey to Machu Picchu. Whether you’re making your own way there by train and bus to the plant and finishing the journey on foot, or whether you’re completing the third day of the Inca Jungle Trek tour as we were, this is how hundreds of tourists reach the foot of Machu Picchu every day. It’s a flat, pleasant journey through rich forest, with Machu Picchu itself looming emerald green in the distance, and it’s a very photogenic route!

If you’re heading to Machu Picchu yourself and you’re wondering what to pack, don’t miss my Inca Jungle Trek and Inca Trail packing lists.
